argopecten irradians - Atlantic Bay Scallop
The Atlantic Bay Scallop can be found in near shore waters along grassy seabeds with high salinity. Bay scallops are known for their 18 electric blue eyes and can swim using a type of jet propulsion to escape predation. It is native to the northern Atlantic from Cape Cod to the Gulf of Mexico.
These Baby Bay Scallop Pearl Drops are made from the molding and casting of a real found scallop shell in recycled silver. The original empty mollusk shell was collected on a beach in Cape May, NJ.
These earrings are only 1.125“ long and 1/2" wide. The gorgeous bezel set freshwater pearls are 8mm and each post will come with an oversized 9mm sterling silver ear nut back.
This design is currently available in polished sterling silver but other metals, finishes are always possible, email me for custom options and a quote.
