triplofusus giganteus - Horse Conch
The Florida Horse Conch is the largest marine sea snail in American waters - weighing in at 11lbs on average. It is a prized find in many shell collections and is the state shell of Florida. With its large, bright orange foot, it smothers and traps its prey, consisting of anything smaller than itself. Common in shallow waters from North Carolina to the Yucatan Peninsula. Historically, the shell has been found to have been fashioned into a variety of tools by Native people of Southern North America.
The Baby Horse Conch Ring is made from the molding and casting of a real horse conch snail shell in recycled silver. A friend found the original in Florida.
Once the casting is created, I solder on a ring band made to your size.
The shell itself is ¾" long and ¼” wide. The band is 2mm wide.
This design is currently available in polished sterling silver but other metals, finishes and chains are always available, message me for custom options and a quote. All HKM Jewelry pieces are properly hallmarked for metal type and stamped for authenticity.
