The Mini Horseshoe Crab Necklace is made from the molding and casting of a real baby Horseshoe Crab molt in recycled sterling silver.
As the Horseshoe Crabs grow, they shed their exoskeletons, the molts wash up all over the beaches of the world. I was gifted the original molt by a dear friend from New Jersey, where Horseshoe Crabs are known to breed. After casting, I create the tail using sterling silver wire, carefully shaping and forming it so that it has kinetic movement.
The little cast charm measures 3/8ths” wide and 1” long - bail to tail. It is strung on an 18" sterling cable chain. Other length are available - just email me!
This design is currently available in polished sterling silver, but other metals and finished are possible, message me for custom options and a quote. As soon as I saw that Hali created these new horseshoe crab necklaces with moveable tails, I knew it was the perfect gift for my dear friend. I waited until New Year’s Day to hide it in my Christmas tree next to the German pickle ornament. She followed a scavenger hunt clue to find it and was totally surprised!
