aetobatus narinari - Eagle Ray
Eagle Rays have been swimming our seas since the late cretaceous period. This species of sting ray has a barb at the base of its nearly 16ft long tail that can kill a human. This ray uses it's mouth plates to crush and eat clams, squid, shrimp and urchins.
The Eagle Ray Plate Bar Necklace is made from the molding and casting of a real found fossil in recycled silver. This fragment was found by a friend in Calvert Cliffs, Maryland. I molded and cast it to add this design to my collection, the fossil was then returned to him.
The charm is only 1/4" long and 1" wide and it is soldered to a 16” or 18" sterling silver cable chain of your choice.
This design is currently available in solid, polished, sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always available, email me for custom options and a quote.
All HKM Jewelry pieces are made to order and are properly hallmarked for metal type and authenticity.
