The Hermit Crab Claw Necklace is made from the mold and cast of a real found Flat Clawed Hermit Crab molt in recycled silver. Hermit Crabs, like all crustaceans, shed their exoskeleton as they grow during a process called molting. The Flat Clawed Hermit is native to the Atlantic and can be found all the up and down the coast!
I collected the original shed on a beach in Cape May, New Jersey and then sent it to a local, family owned casting company to be cast in multiples of solid metal. Once the casting is returned, I solder on jump rings and it then is strung on a 16”, 18”, or 20” sterling silver cable chain of your choice. The Claw is only 1" long and 1/2" wide.
This design is currently available in solid polished or oxidized sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always available, message me for custom options and a quote.
