Ovalipes ocellatus - Lady Crab
Lady Crabs are local to the East Coast of the US from Cape Cod to Florida's Gulf coast. They live in sandy shallow waters and are speckled with pink cheetah like spots. Their back legs are called "swimmerets" which I think is so sweet!
These Mini Crab Claw Stud Earrings are made from the molding and casting of two real molted claws in recycled silver. All crabs molt, or shed their exoskeletons as they grow. The originals were found by my sisters and I in Beach Haven, NJ. The whole earring is only 9/16ths" long and 1/4" wide. Each earring comes with a 7mm sterling ear nut backing.
This design is currently available in solid polished sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always available, message me for custom options and a quote.
