These Mudsnail Stud Earrings are made from the molding and casting of real found Threeline Mudsnail shell in recycled silver. I collected the original empty mollusk shell on a beach in Cape May, New Jersey and then sent it to a local, family owned casting company to be cast in multiples of solid metal. Once the castings are returned, I solder on silver posts. Finally they are cleaned up and hand polished with care.
The Small Mudsnail Studs are only 7/16th" long and 1/4" wide. This design is currently available in solid sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always available, message me for custom options and a quote. All HKM Jewelry pieces are properly hallmarked for metal type and stamped for authenticity.
The Threeline Mudsnail, (tritia trivittata) also known as a Nassa, Dog Whelk or Basket Snail, is a marine gastropod mollusk in the Nassariidae family that can be found from Canada to Florida.
