Aqua Teal Seal
This super fun project came to life by meeting Jackie - A volunteer photographer for MERR Institute (Delaware's official marine animal rescuers - check them out!) Jackie had a vision to create a seal necklace using one of her special pieces of sea glass. A gorgeous slab of aqua that I've never seen in person before, a true turquoise treasure. She found it while photographing seals on the beach!
I had been wanting to make a seal necklace for a while now, I imagined he would be pictured in the famous "banana" pose, and luckily the glass was triangle shaped which fit so well. Jackie shared some of her amazing photos with me to help with the design, so I took some details from each image and made her a custom Swimmer!
Since the glass was so thick, I had the idea to fold over his front flippers as if he was rubbing his belly, or just grasping the gem itself. His fins tail and head are all hammer textured and he has a pierced and engraved face, I can't wait to make another someday!
