Nautical Baby Rattle
My best friend had a baby this year and I surprised her with a handcrafted sterling silver rattle using one of my favorite sea shell castings as the bottom end. I forged the handle and twisted it to match the whorls of the oyster drill shell. I created an elliptical vessel for the top end and hand pierced a compass rose pattern at its base to allow for a jingle sound when the rattle was shaken.
The ellipse is lined with twisted wire and filled with stainless steal shot beads. A true labor of love for little Harper.
