NJ Inspired Bolo Tie with Lapis Lazuli Inlay

This customer ordered this second Bolo Tie from me using his own creative ideas to represent his childhood home state of New Jersey and current resident city of Philadelphia.

 

The NJ shaped Bolo features an all fabricated construction of sterling silver sheet and wire to thicken the edge without adding too much weight.

The scallop motif is a favorite of his and always comes with nostalgia of the shore towns he loves, Barnegate and Cape May. The estuaries and inlets are all created with a crushed stone inlay technique to represent the state of NJ's most important ecosystem. The egret motif was taken from the customers own painting.

Since he and his wife are currently living in Philadelphia, we added the addition of a brass overlay to the "map" of this piece to highlight it. It's always a pleasure working with my customers who have an artistic vision of their own, as we collaborate to create unique and meaningful designs like this.
