The Baby Blue Crab Necklace is made from the molding and casting of a real found Blue Crab molt in recycled silver. Blue Crabs, like all crustaceans, shed their exoskeleton as they grow during a process called molting. The Blue Crab is native to the Atlantic and can be found all the up and down the coast!
I collected the original shed on a beach in Cape May, New Jersey and then sent it to a local, family owned casting company to be cast in multiples of solid metal. Once the casting is returned, I solder on jump rings and it then is strung on a 16”, 18”, or 20” sterling silver cable chain of your choice. The charm is only 1/2" long and 1" wide.
This design is currently available in solid polished or oxidized sterling silver but other metals, finishes and stones are always available, message me for custom options and a quote. All HKM Jewelry pieces are properly hallmarked for metal type and stamped for authenticity.
