A Moon Snail or Shark Eye shell is a very common find along the shores of the Atlantic. This shell is the home of a large predatory sea snail which has a fossil record of about 23 million years.
I collected the original shed on a beach in Cape May, New Jersey and then sent it to a local, family owned casting company to be cast in multiples of solid metal. Once the castings are returned, I solder on jump rings and make a silver french hook. The actual shell is only 15mm long and wide coming to 1" in total length with the hook.
