Strombus alatus - Florida Fighting Conch
The Florida Fighting Conch is a shallow, warm-water, sea snail that can grow up to 5" long. They can be found in the Western Atlantic from North Carolina to Florida, throughout the Caribbean, and within the Gulf of Mexico. They can grow in an assortment of shapes, and color variations from lavender, to orange and even albino. To read more about the Fighting conch and their many varieties, check out this blog I love Shelling - which is who I've used for years to identify my shell collection.
The Florida Fighting Conch Necklace is made from the molding and casting of a real found juvenile fighting conch shell in recycled silver. My customer gave me this shell collected in Sanibel, Florida with her grandmother. I had it molded and cast in solid silver. Once the casting is created, I solder on jump rings and it is then strung on a 16”, 18”, or 20” sterling silver cable chain of your choice.
The charm is 1.25" long and 1/2" wide including bail. This design is currently available in solid polished or oxidized sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always possible, message me for custom options and a quote.
All HKM Jewelry pieces are properly hallmarked for metal type and stamped for authenticity.
