These Limpet Shell and Cape May Diamond Dangle Earrings are made from the molding and casting of a real found Limpet shell in recycled silver. I collected the original empty mollusk shell on a beach in Delray, Florida and then sent it to a local, family owned casting company to be cast in multiples of solid metal. Once the castings are returned, I solder on jump rings and handmade basket setting for the beach pebbles with a stud post in the back. Finally they are cleaned up, oxidized if needed and hand polished with care. The small earrings are only 1" long and 1/4" wide, the large size is about 1.25" long and 1/2" wide.
Cape May Diamonds are crystal clear quartz deposits found on the beaches of Cape May, NJ. Each stone has traveled all the way down the Delaware River on a journey to the sea that takes over a thousand years. I collect the stones myself and tumble them for 2 months to bring out their natural clarity and shine. While I do try to match the stones as best I can, each pebble is unique so please allow for slight variations in tone, size and shape.
A medium sized Cape May Diamond is used for the small earrings and a large pair of stones is used for the large pair of earrings.
