Atlantic Oyster - crassostrea virginica
The Atlantic or Eastern Oyster is the most widely distributed native oyster species in the Mid-Atlantic. Years ago populations suffered due to a multitude of risk factors such as overfishing, diseases, water quality issues, and habitat loss. The Atlantic Oyster is critical to the health of our seas as one oyster can filter and clean as much as 50 gallons of water a day.
The earrings are made from the molding and casting of a real oyster seed shell in recycled silver. The original was given to me by an oyster farmer in Tuckerton New Jersey called BayFarm Inc. The earrings are 3/4" long and 1/2" wide and come with sterling ear nut backs.
This design is currently available in solid polished or oxidized sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always available, message me for custom options and a quote.
