These Mud Snail Drop Earrings are made from the molding and casting of real-found Threeline Mud Snail shell in recycled silver. I collected the original empty mollusk shell on a beach in Cape May, New Jersey and then have it molded and cast in multiples of solid metal. Once the castings are cleaned up, I solder on forged French hooks and hand polish them with care.
The Small Mud Snail Drops are only 1" long including hook and 1/4" wide. This design is currently available in solid sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always available, message me for custom options and a quote. All HKM Jewelry pieces are properly hallmarked for metal type and stamped for authenticity.
The Threeline Mud Snail, (tritia trivittata) also known as a Nassa, Dog Whelk or Basket Snail, is a marine gastropod mollusk in the Nassariidae family that can be found from Canada to Florida.
