Trachycardium egmontianum - Florida Prickly Cockle
The Florida Prickly Cockle is one of the most common bivalves along the shores of Southwest Florida, the Gulf, and up to North Carolina. The spiny projections along its radial ribs give it its name. Its exterior is often cream colored with speckles of brown, tan, and pink, while the interior may have an ombre of tan, salmon and deep purple. When escaping predators like the Lace Murex, they use their large foot to “pole vault” themselves away. Adults can be 3" or more in length!
This Small Prickly Cockle Clam Necklace is made from the molding and casting of a real found clam shell in recycled silver. I collected this tiny shell in Sanibel Florida and molded a copy of it to be cast in multiples of solid silver.
The charm is only 3/4" long and 1/2" wide and can be strung on a 16”, 18”, or 20” sterling silver cable chain of your choice.
This design is currently available in solid polished or oxidized sterling silver but other metals and finishes are always available, email me for custom options and a quote.
